Qualifications

Having obtained his Law degree from Université Laval in 1982 and a Master’s degree in 1988, Mr. Clément Samson was called to the Québec Bar in 1983. He joined our Quebec City firm in 1988 after practicing in the region for five years and became a partner in 1995. In 2007, he was awarded the title of lawyer emeritus by the Québec Bar.

Skills

Civil law litigation dominates his practice. He has worked on important lengthy trials, and still does.

Involvements

Mr. Samson was the President of the Québec Bar in 2000-2001 and member of the Administration Committee for two years. He was one of the eco-founders of the Centre d’accès à l’information juridique, of which he was President for close to 4 years. Mr. Samson is also very involved with the Mouvement des caisses Desjardins, first as President of Caisse populaire Desjardins of Lévis, then as President of a regional council, as a member and the Secretary of the Board of Directors of Fédération des caisses Desjardins of the province of Québec, of Caisse centrale Desjardins, of Capital Desjardins, of Desjardins Capital de risque and of Fiducie Desjardins. He is a member of the Executive Committee and of the commissions and the Governance of these entities. He is also President of the Board of Directors of Desjardins Groupe d'assurances générales and of its Executive Committee. Finally, Mr. Samson is Second Vice-President of the Conseil québécois de la coopération et de la mutualité and President of the Fondation de l'Université du Québec.
