Me Patrick Poulin, Lawyer


Qualifications

Having obtained his Law degree from the University of Ottawa in 1994 as well as following the Masters in Taxation program at the University of Sherbrooke in 1995-96, Mr. Patrick Poulin was called to the Québec Bar in 1997. He now lives and practices in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Prior to leaving Canada, he was a partner with our firm, where he was also head of the Taxation Department. He remains closely affiliated and of counsel to Joli-Cœur Lacasse and continues to advise our clients on international taxation matters.

Skills

Patrick Poulin’s main area of expertise is international taxation, where he has counselled clients on a number of multinational transactions over the years. He has acquired broad knowledge of many tax treaties and has advised on numerous corporate transactions. He also works in financing, real estate and mergers and acquisitions. Trusts and estates are also an integral part of his daily practice. Having developed an extensive international network, he is capable of assisting clients in many varied jurisdictions.

Involvements

Over the years, Patrick Poulin has given several conferences and published many articles in the field of international taxation, often geared towards the needs of small and medium sized enterprises doing business abroad.

He was also a member of the Board of directors of a major Canadian law firm and sat on the board of directors of the St-Patrick’s High School Foundation as Treasurer for many years.

In previous years, he also taught business taxation at Laval University’s Masters in Law program.

He is fluent in both English and French.
