Qualifications

Having obtained his Law degree from Université de Montréal in 1980, Mr. Sylvain Généreux was called to the Québec Bar in 1982. He joined our Montreal firm in 1983 as a partner.

Skills

Administrative as well as professional and disciplinary law are predominant within his practice. Having developed an expertise in these domains, he is called upon to represent trustees and directors of professional orders in cases linked to the protection of the public.

He represents trustees of various professional orders in matters of disciplinary complaints against professionals about misappropriations of funds, offences relating to the drafting of plans and estimates, offences of sexual character and infractions implicating dignity, diligence, gross incompetence, impartiality and professional integrity.

Involvements

He published Questions relatives au pouvoir du Bureau d’un ordre professionnel de radier un membre déclaré coupable d’une infraction criminelle. Mr. Généreux is a member of the liaison committee of the Bar of Montreal with the Tribunal des professions. He had been a trainer at the workshop on regulation presented during the 2007 symposium of professional order directors. He also gave many conferences and formation sessions before trustees and professional order
directors on different subjects: extraordinary appeals, sanctions, recovery of sums owed to order, independence of the trustee, conciliation, administrative expulsions, questions relating proof by experts and information that can be acquired from police authorities.
